An Arlington school administrator has been named interim superintendent while the district continues the search for a replacement for Marcelo Cavazos who will retire in August.
On Tuesday night, trustees voted to appoint Steven Wurtz who has worked in the Arlington district for ten years most recently as Chief Academic Officer.
School Board President Melody Fowler says Wurtz "has a firm understanding of the district's strategic priorities and we know he is committed to delivering superior educational opportunities" to students.
Wurtz assumes his interim duties today and Cavazos will remain as an adviser through the end of August.
