A former student who survived a shooting at a high school in Mansfield ISD in 2021 has now been killed at an apartment complex in Arlington. Zacchaeus Selby-Mukum, 19, was killed Monday evening.

Selby-Mukum was shot and injured at Timberview High School in October 2021 after prosecutors say another student pulled a gun during a fight. Timothy Simpkins was found guilty of injuring Selby-Mukum, another student and a teacher. Simpkins is currently serving a 12 year prison sentence.

Monday evening, Arlington Police were called to an apartment complex near Highway 360 and Arkansas Lane. They say witnesses heard arguing and then gunshots.

When police arrived, they found Selby-Mukum lying in the parking lot. He died at the hospital.

Arlington Police have not confirmed a motive or made any arrests.

"Based on their investigation, detectives have not ruled out the possibility that high-risk activity may be involved," the department wrote in a statement, adding detectives have not found any evidence to suggest this case might be connected to the shooting at Timberview.
