The Cordish Companies have lifted the last beam into place at an apartment building in Arlington's Entertainment District. One Rangers Way will be the first residential offering in the area.
One Rangers Way is being built across Nolan Ryan Expressway from Choctaw Stadium and next to Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center. The building will include 300 apartments, from studios starting around $1,500 to one and two-bedroom apartments to penthouses.
"This brings sort of the final part of the package of living, working, and playing right here in the Entertainment District," Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said. "It is luxury living at its best."
Cordish Companies started work in Arlington 12 years ago with plans for Texas Live! and two hotels.
"Our vision for Texas Live! has always been a big one from the beginning," Cordish Companies COO Zed Smith said. "We ultimately will invest over $4 billion in this 200 acres."
Smith said development has focused on hotels, restaurants, and other activities, but "we knew vibrant residential was important to the development."
"It was just that hope and believing we could do something very special on this site," he said. "We're so proud of where we are today."
Ross said the introduction of residential to the Entertainment District will keep the area growing as Choctaw Stadium transitions to hosting more concerts and football, the Rangers defend their World Series title, AT&T Stadium hosts large events, and the National Medal of Honor Museum opens next year.
"You can now live here, work here, play here, and never get in a car," Ross said. "Brother, we're still growing. You look for all kinds of new things happening. More, more, more is what we're looking at here. We won't stop until we're at the head of the pack for entertainment all over the world."
Cordish said pre-leasing for One Rangers Way is "exceeding every expectation," and the building should open in January.
