A man is in hospital in Dallas after contracting Texas' first case of the Monkeypox virus.
The Health Department says a man who traveled to Nigeria and landed at Dallas Love Field Airport on July 9th recently tested positive for the rare virus.
The man is in stable condition and remains quarantined in the hospital.
Now the CDC is working to reach out to everyone who was on the plane with that infected person.
On Ask the Expert, A&M Texarkana Virologist Dr. Ben Neuman joined KRLD's Kristin Diaz and John Liddle to discuss what it is and if this news is concerning.
He stresses this virus is very rare and not easily transmittable. Dr. Neuman says, in addition, it's unlikely it spread among those in the plane since it is mandatory to wear a mask while flying.
