AT&T Byron Nelson tees off today for first time at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney

After days of rain, it looks life perfect weather for the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament that will be teeing off today for the first time at McKinney's TPC Craig Ranch.

It's a good field but it could have been better. Organizers were tickled to have World Number One Dustin Johnson but this week, he pulled out because of a bum knee. Even so, a lot of familiar names have shown up.

Dallas native and Jesuit product Jordan Spieth is in town, playing in the same grouping with a couple of other local fellas, Masters runner-up and Plano native Will Zalatoris and Highland Park High School and UT alum Scottie Scheffler.

Even with DJ out, nine of the Top 25 golfers are in McKinney and two of them, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, are considered co-favorites by many.

Rahm will play the first two rounds with Sung Kang, the defending Byron Nelson champ and this year's Master's winner Hideki Matsuyama, DeChambeau is grouped up with the Australian Marc Leishman and Shreveport's Sam Burns.

The Byron Nelson was on hiatus last year because of the Coronavirus and this is year one of a multi-year deal with TPC Craig Ranch.
