Atmos Energy facing $250M lawsuit in connection with fatal explosion in Collin County

Atmos Energy is facing a quarter-Billion dollar lawsuit in connection with last month's fatal explosion in rural Collin County.

The lawsuit says it was a simple matter of not grounding a piece of inspection equipment in a gas line that led to a static electricity explosion on June 28th, killing Deric Tarver.

The equipment is called a pipeline inspection gauge. And on that fateful day all it took was one flash to set off a catestrophic explosion that killed Tarver immediately.

Benny Agosto Jr., the family attorney, says both Atmos and the Bobcat Contracting company of Hillsboro share blame.

He is seeking $250 million in damages. Neither Atmos nor Bobcat has responded to comment.
