Atmos Energy has formally asked the City of Dallas to approve a roughly 10 percent rate increase for customers within city limits, a move that would add about $11.25 to the monthly bill for the average household.
The proposed adjustment was filed earlier this month under the city’s Annual Rate Review process and now requires Dallas City Council approval before it can take effect.
Under the plan, Atmos officials said the increase is tied in part to rising costs and infrastructure investments as the company provides natural gas service to the area.
If approved, residential customers could see bills climb by roughly $135 a year, with the change dependent on the council’s forthcoming decision.
