Authorities in Wise County say they suspect foul play in the disappearance of a woman who has been missing since last month.

Family members of 48-year-old Monica Sanford reported her missing on Aug. 25 after not hearing from her for two days, according to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Lane Akin said investigators grew concerned after Sanford’s vehicle, dog and other belongings were found abandoned at her home. Her car had been left against a fence at the back of the property, he said.

Deputies and Texas Rangers have searched the area using drones, K-9 units and sonar equipment, but Sanford has not been located.

Sanford is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information about her location or disappearance is asked to contact the Wise County Sheriff's Office at 940-627-5971 or Texas EquuSearch at 281-309-9500.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Sanford’s whereabouts.
