Avelo Airlines, an American ultra low-cost carrier headquartered in Houston, will become the first commercial airline to operate out of McKinney National Airport’s new passenger terminal, city officials announced.
The airline has been approved to launch service at the airport, also known as TKI, once the new terminal opens. Construction on the passenger terminal and supporting facilities is underway and remains on schedule for completion by late 2026, according to the city.
The new terminal will be built just east of the airport’s existing facilities and is designed to support the airport’s first regular commercial service. Plans call for a 45,000-square-foot terminal with four initial gates, along with parking areas, a taxiway, a commercial aircraft apron and additional runway support equipment.
City officials say Avelo’s commitment marks a major step toward expanding air travel options in Collin County and establishing McKinney National Airport as a commercial aviation hub.
