Barring intervention by the Supreme Court, the toughest immigration law in U.S. history is set to take effect here in Texas at 4:00 p.m. today.

The US Supreme Court could rule anytime after 9:00 a.m. this morning. The stay expires at 4:00 p.m. our time.


The law that would give police the ability to arrest anyone suspected of making illegal entry, and judges the ability to deport without a traditional hearing.

The Texas law, known as SB4, has been on hold since it was passed.

Immigration attorney Eric Cedillo says the court has struck down a similar law in the past, but this is a different court.

The Biden Administration argues the Supremacy Clause trumps any state laws on immigration and that the country cannot have different border states passing different laws.
