Baylor Scott & White has opened a new hospital in Frisco. The hospital covers 340,000 square feet near the Dallas North Tollway and PGA Parkway.
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center--Frisco has 84 beds, an emergency room, trauma care and a dedicated unit for pregnant women and new mothers.
"Being a mom myself, it's really special to have a place curated just for women," says Dr. Naima Bridges who works in obstetrics and gynecology.
The maternal unit has a dedicated entrance and its own elevator. Bridges says that can help women who might be pregnant or have young kids from needing to work through crowds or cram into a crowded elevator.
"From walking into the building through the completion of their post-partum journey, women are taken care of in a seamless fashion," she says.
Baylor Scott & White Chief Executive Pete McCanna says the hospital has operating rooms built for specialized needs and can use robotic technologies.
"We're not just guessing, we're deeply listening," he says. "We're learning directly from our patients, identifying their pain points and reimagining their entire care journey from the moment they consider where to go, scheduling treatment and followup," he says. "It's not very complicated. What are their problems? Let's build solutions."
He says that mindset led to the development of the "MyBSW" app to help women schedule appointments during their pregnancies and then make appointments in the dedicated maternal unit.
"This hospital feels different because it is different, built with intention, empathy and a deep understanding of what matters most to the people we serve," he says.
