On Monday night, Baylor University won its first men's national basketball championship. The Bears dominated from the outset, jumping out to a big early lead before cruising to an 86-70 victory over previously-unbeaten Gonzaga.
For the favored Bulldogs, it was a stunning end to the season. Gonzaga was looking to finish as the first undefeated national champions in men's basketball since Indiana in 1976.
The Baylor men now add a national championship trophy to those won by the women's basketball program in 2005, 2012 and 2019. Former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III won college football's Heisman Trophy in 2011.
As of Tuesday morning, official plans for a celebration had not been announced. David Smoak from SicEm365.com talked about Baylor's historic run.
