Bedford firefighters rescued a resident on Friday in a two-alarm fire that destroyed an eight-unit apartment building.
It happened about 9:15 a.m. in 3 thousand one Crystal Springs apartments.
Firefighters say the flames spread fast and the building's roof collapsed.

Bedford Fire Chief Bill Walker says responders found one resident who had no idea what was going on.
"They were banging on the door and the person was completely unaware there was a fire in the unit right next to him," Walker said. "Must have been a heavy sleeper I guess. But fortunately we were able to roust him and get him out of there."
Firefighters also saved a cat in the blaze. Nobody was hurt. The Red Cross is helping the victims.
No word on what caused the fire.
