A beloved Richardson police dog has died after serving with the police department for the last year-and-a-half.
Remi was a three-year-old German Shepherd certified by the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association. Last week, she started showing symptoms and she was taken to her veterinarians.
Officiasls say the vet ran a few tests but Remi's condition deteriorated, leading to kidney failure. It still needs to be confirmed tests but the vets think she had a genetic condition connected to thyroid issues.
Just last month, Richardson PD posted social media pictures showing Remi as she was tracking down a burglary suspect who tried to run for it when police caught up to him. He didn't get far, thanks to Remi.
