BENBROOK (1080 KRLD)- Five days after police shot and killed a man in Benbrook, police are giving an explanation for what happened.
The Department of Public Safety says 36-year-old Kenneth Woods had been threatening his mother and children inside an apartment, then threatened police after jumping out a second-story window.
They do not say what started the incident. In a news release, DPS says Woods' mother called for help, claiming her son was not letting anyone out of the apartment. Police say they heard shots inside the building just before Woods jumped.
They say Woods was shot after refusing to drop his gun.
