(FORT WORTH) -- There will be a benefit Friday evening in Fort Worth for three Haltom City police officers shot in the line of duty.
Cpl. Zach Tabler and officers Tim Barton and Jose Avila were all wounded last weekend as they confronted a murder suspect who ultimately killed himself.
Barton has since returned home to continue his recovery, while Tabler and Avila are still hospitalized.
"We are expecting them all to fully recover; but for some of them, it's probably going to be a very long recovery process," says Haltom City Police Cpl. Jason Michlitsch, the president of the Haltom City Law Enforcement Association. "So we just want to make sure that they are taken care of."
To help them out during their recovery, there will be a fundraiser at Cowtown Brewing (1301 E. Belknap St., Fort Worth) Friday from 5:00-10:00 p.m.
"We're going to have some merchandise on hand," says Cpl. Micklitsch, "and any sales of any merchandise goes directly to the families."
The fundraiser coincides with Cowtown Brewing's release of its newest beer, named Hundo P.
"We kind of tied the release of that beer into our event," says Micklitsch. "So any sales of Hundo P go directly to the three officers that were wounded.
"We really hope that we can get people in the door and sell them out of Hundo P beer on Friday night," Micklitsch continued, "either because the beer is so great or because people want to help us out that much -- hopefully a combination of both."
For those looking to help but are unable to attend, there are other ways you can donate to the officers:
