A bobcat kills a small family dog on Shadow Brook Lane in Frisco, prompting concern among residents who say multiple bobcats have been roaming the subdivision in recent weeks.
The attack happened as the dog was outside the home, and neighbors reported seeing at least three bobcats moving through the area.
City animal services say bobcat sightings are not uncommon in fast-growing suburbs near creeks and wooded corridors, where the animals hunt rabbits and other small wildlife. While bobcats rarely approach humans, officials warn they may see pets - especially smaller dogs and outdoor cats - as prey.
Frisco’s animal services team is monitoring the area and reminding residents to keep pets supervised outdoors, secure trash, and remove food sources that can attract wildlife. The city also urges residents to report sightings so staff can track movement patterns and identify potential hotspots for future encounters.
