An American Airlines flight heading to DFW had to make an unexpected stop in Pittsburgh after a bomb threat was found scribbled in pink ink.
A flight attendant spotted the message, saying "there’s a bomb on board," in the lavatory shortly after takeoff from Newark. The pilot quickly made the call to divert to Pittsburgh, where passengers ended up waiting for hours while police and the FBI searched the plane.
In the end, they found no threat, and everyone was cleared to reboard. The FBI did question some passengers and searched the belongings of the last two people in the lavatory but didn’t find the pink pen.
The flight finally took off again later that afternoon.
