A boot company founded in San Diego in 2000 now proudly calls Fort Worth home.
Ernie Tarut is the president and co-founder of Old Gringo Boots. He had been looking to move his company to Texas for about five years but had not yet nailed down a specific part of the state. One trip to the NFR Rodeo earlier this year was enough to lure him to the Fort Worth Stockyards.
"Everyone here was so absolutely welcoming to me that I just figured it would be a good fit, to be honest," Tarut said.
Tarut was looking to rent a building in the Stockyards, but it needed too much work. So he bought the building and knocked it down so that he can put up a new building in its place. It will have a retail store on the first floor, offices on the second floor, and a wood-fired seafood restaurant on the third floor when it's finished in three years.
For the time being, the company is operating out of office space in downtown Fort Worth.
