FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - For the second day in a row, a child under the age of 10 has died of COVID-19 at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth.
J.J. Boatman, 9, of Vernon was airlifted there after being unable to breathe.
The organizer of a GoFundMe campaign for his funeral expenses says just hours earlier, J.J. was running around and playing like a normal nine-year-old.
According to the GoFundMe post, doctors at Cook Children's say his lungs were filled with fluid and his brain had swollen due to a lack of oxygen.
J.J. was hooked up to a ventilator, but he died about 12 hours later.
His death comes just one day after an infant at Cook Children's died of COVID.
