California child found safe in Buffalo

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The US Marshal's Service says the mother of a six year old girl reported missing from the west coast is in custody. The girl was found safe in Buffalo.

Marshals say Talia Jones was found with her mother Melinda Davis, 43, who was wanted on a felony child abduction warrant from Los Angeles. Talia Jones was last seen in Los Angeles on June 17, 2019. It was believed she was in the company of her mother although their exact whereabouts for the last year have been unknown. Marshals say a Crime Stoppers tip was received by the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force in Los Angeles, that Davis may have fled to the Buffalo with the child.

Marshals say Buffalo Police assisted with them in the investigation. Talia was found safe at a residence on 100 block of Stevens Street in Buffalo with Davis. The child was placed with Erie County Department of Child Services and Melinda Davis was arrested on the outstanding warrant.
