A California man has now been charged after being caught on the border last month smuggling reptiles intended for Texas.

Reports say Jose Manuel Perez was busted by the Border Patrol in California as he tried to cross into the US by car.

Agents say he had 60 reptiles in his jacket, pants pockets, pant legs and groin. The reptiles included snakes, horned lizards, box turtles, beaded lizards and baby crocodiles.

Reports say Perez planned to transport the critters to the airport in Juarez and then by car into El Paso.

Investigators say he's done it before with a market value of the contraband around $750,000.
