Officials from Camp Mystic in the Texas Hill Country say in a statement they are withdrawing their application for a summer 2026 operational license after this week’s hearings over the deadly July 2025 flooding that killed 25 campers and 2 counselors.
Earlier this week families who lost their daughters in last summer's flooding testified before a select committee of Texas legislators in Austin.
The State had temporarily blocked their application due to two dozen deficiencies in the safety plan. Now, in a statement the Camp is saying no summer season should move forward while families continue to grieve, while investigations continue, and while Texans carry the pain of last July's tragedy.
