Forty-nine percent of Americans aged 16 to 65 acknowledge having a mental health condition, yet less than half (48%) are seeking help or treatment, according to an Ad Council study.
The Ad Council and Huntsman Mental Health Institute are launching a nationwide initiative aimed at fostering a society that embraces mental health with openness and proactivity. The Love, Your Mind campaign introduces fresh public service advertisements and offers free mental health resources accessible at LoveYourMindToday.org.
The newly created PSAs, presented in both English and Spanish, challenge the stigma surrounding mental health. They encourage adults to nurture their relationships with their minds, paralleling how they care for their closest personal relationships.
Developed through extensive market research, Love, Your Mind is tailored to resonate with the 70 million adults in the U.S. likely to face mental health challenges. The campaign particularly focuses on reaching out to Black and Hispanic men aged 18-45, a group overrepresented among those struggling with mental health, aiming to transform their attitudes and beliefs and encourage them to seek help.
KRLD's John Liddle talked with Dr. William Smith, Chief Executive Administrator for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah, and Heidi Arthur, Ad Council Chief Campaign Development Officer about the campaign.
