The capital murder trial of a Dallas man continues today where he's charged with killing a woman during a robbery when he was just a teenager.

Anthony Lewis is 20-years-old now, but police say as a 16-year-old he took part in the May 2020 robbery and murder of 59-year-old Leslie Baker, a well-known North Dallas marketing executive.

Police reports say Baker was killed on Memorial Day as she sat in her driveway in the 6100 block of Royalton Drive, a neighborhood near the Preston Royal shopping center.

Her husband was at home at the time and heard the gunfire, at first thinking it was the sound of construction equipment. But he went out when the noise resumed to learn his wife had been shot. She died a short time later.

Lewis is one of three suspects who were arrested a few days later after police say he carjacked another driver in Richardson, shot at a ride shared driver, then led police officers on a high-speed chase. Police did not initially release Lewis's name because he was 16 years old at the time of the shooting.

A judge certified Lewis to stand trial as an adult after he turned 17. If convicted of capital murder, and because of his age, Lewis could be eligible for parole after he serves 40-years.

The two codefendants, Antony Isaiah Taylor and Deng Chen Ajack, are still awaiting trial.
