The northbound side of Interstate 45 in southeast Dallas was closed Friday morning due to a car fire.
The fire broke out a little past 7:30 a.m. on northbound I-45 near the Interstate 20 interchange. The Dallas County Sheriff's Office closed the northbound lanes completely. and within an hour the back-up was to Wintergreen Road.
The ramps from I-20 to northbound I-45 were also closed, creating long backups in both directions. Investigators did not immediately say anything about the cause of the fire.
