
The new Irving police chief will be Carrollton Police Chief Derick Miller who's hiring is expected to be confirmed by the Irving City Council at its May 5th meeting.
Reports say Miller's swearing in is scheduled for May 31st.
Miller began his law enforcement career in Carrollton 30 years ago and has a masters degree in criminology and criminal justice from UT Arlington where he has also taught as an adjunct professor in Criminology.
Irving City Manager Chris Hillman writes: "Chief Miller's experience, professional focus areas and approach to community outreach will be a great asset as the Irving Police Department continues to set the standard for best policing practices."
