The remains of 19-year-old U.S. Army Pvt. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton will return home for a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. The White House initially planned the ceremony for Tuesday night, but officials now say it will take place at a later date. President Trump plans to attend.
Gonzales was killed in an Iranian airstrike over the weekend while serving at a U.S. base in Jordan. The Pentagon identified her as one of two service members lost in the attack. She had graduated from Hebron High School just last year, proudly wearing a U.S. Army stole at the ceremony.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott mourned her loss on X, writing that her courage and sacrifice represent “the very best of Texas.” He and his wife Cecilia offered prayers for Gonzales’ family and the family of 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan of Hawaii.

President Trump addressed the incident on social media, stating, "Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over! This directive has been passed on to Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Daniel Caine, and every Leader in the Military."
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the president’s plans to attend the dignified transfer. The incident comes amid heightened tensions following U.S. military actions in the region.
Gonzales was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. Her death has deeply affected the Carrollton community, where she was remembered as a recent high school graduate who answered the call to serve.
The dignified transfer honors the solemn return of America’s fallen service members. Details on the rescheduled ceremony will be released as they become available.
