Bedford-based Carter Blood Care is donating a retired blood collection bus to the people of Ukraine where because of last year's brutal and unjust Russian invasion, blood is in chronic short supply.
The bus leaves Tarrant County Thursday, bound for the Port of Galveston where it will be loaded aboard a cargo ship bound for Poland where the bus will be shipped to Ukraine.
Ukraine faces a critical shortage of blood and blood products for transfusions because so many of the nation's hospitals and blood centers have been damaged or destroyed by Russian air attacks.
