In the aftermath of the chaotic incident at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) All-Star Championship in Dallas this past weekend, the competition resumed on Sunday without further disruptions. The event, held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, had been temporarily halted on Saturday after a fight between two individuals led to a stampede, causing panic among the attendees.
Dallas police confirmed that there was no active shooter involved in the incident. The loud noise from the fight, which caused several poles to fall, triggered the panic and subsequent evacuation of the convention center. Ten people were transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging from bumps and bruises to fractures.
Despite the scare, the cheerleading community showed resilience as the competition resumed on Sunday. Participants and their families returned to the venue, determined to continue the event and support each other. Increased security measures were implemented to ensure the safety of all attendees.
Varsity Spirit, the organizer of the NCA competition, expressed gratitude to the athletes, families, and first responders for their cooperation and support during the incident. The event is set to move to Houston next, as the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center undergoes renovations.
The Dallas Police Department is continuing its investigation into the fight that sparked the chaos. No arrests have been made so far.
