The prestigious James Beard Awards, often referred to as the "Oscars of the food world," have announced their 2025 semifinalists, and North Texas is well-represented!
Among the recipients are Regino Rojas of Purépecha in Dallas, nominated for Best Chef: Texas. Anais Paniagua and Iris Rojas of Doña Maria in Irving are also nominated in the same category.
Bar Colette in Dallas is a semifinalist for Best New Bar, while Apothecary in Dallas is up for Outstanding Bar.
Mābo in Dallas has been recognized as a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant.
RJ Yoakum of Georgie in Dallas is nominated as an Emerging Chef. Starship Bagel in Lewisville is a contender for Outstanding Bakery, and Fasicka Hicks and Patrick Hicks of Smoke'N Ash BBQ in Arlington are nominated for Best Chef: Texas.
The final winners will be announced at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on June 16, 2025, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the awards, celebrating culinary excellence and innovation across the United States.
