A toddler was killed and their mother was hospitalized after a vehicle plunged into the Trinity River in Fort Worth on Saturday night.
The incident happened near Beach Street and Interstate 30. Emergency responders pulled a woman from the submerged car and performed life-saving measures before she was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Authorities confirmed that the woman's 1-year-old child was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Despite extensive search efforts by dive teams and drones, the child was not located until Sunday morning.
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash, including how and why the vehicle ended up in the river.
