Dallas Police say a child was injured in a shooting Wednesday night. They received a 911 call about gunfire at an apartment complex near Simpson Stuart and Bonnie View just after 8 p.m.

Police arrived and found a child had been shot. They have not released the kid's age or gender, but the child was stable when Dallas Fire Rescue took them to the hospital.

Police say the gunman had left by the time officers arrived. Thursday morning, they had not announced any arrests or a description of a suspect.

Dallas Police officers spent the night working at the complex trying to confirm what may have led to the shooting and identify a motive. They have not said whether the child was the intended target or might have been shot accidentally.
