Firefighters in McKinney have a fast moving fire on their hands this morning.
McKinney fire officials say the fire was first reported just past 2:00 a.m. Monday when the winds were pretty stiff, and that served to spread the fire which broke out on North McDonald near Standifer, the main street area near historic downtown McKinney.
Reports say the flames have caused heavy damage at the Chicken Express near McDonald and Standifer, at a home on Standifer, and to the New Outreach Church of God in Christ on North Wilcox.
McKinney commanders called in for help from other area fire departments in Allen, Weston, Lowery Crossing, Frisco, Princeton, Fairview, Plano, Melissa and Allen. Some light rain started around 4 a.m. so that has helped in fighting the fast-moving blaze.
