Fort Worth is trying something new, a special bus lane designed to improve service.

The City of Fort Worth launched a red bus lane pilot program. It's the first of its kind in the DFW Metroplex.

The far right lane along Jones Street between 8th and 19th streets, which includes Fort Worth Central Station, is now painted in red and is for bus traffic only.

The goal is to increase bus service efficiency and reduce confusion for drivers.

Red bus lanes are also being used in Austin and Houston, and they have helped alleviate congestion in those cities.
