The city of Melissa has rolled out an on-line tool for residents to monitor the amount of water they use.
Officials hope having easy access to that information will help residents make decisions about their water consumption and ways they can conserve.
"The portal is a great way for residents to keep tabs on their water use on a daily basis," said Chris Thatcher, Melissa's Customer Relations Director. "Making even small changes in how they use water can have an impact on their water bill."
Residents can monitor their usage hourly and get an estimate of how much that water will cost. They can also sign up for text message or e-mail alerts when their usage hits certain levels.
The online monitoring portal is available for Melissa residents.
