Classes resume today at Dallas ISD schools

Students in the Dallas ISD will return to class today, both virtual and in-person, after the district was closed on Monday and Tuesday to allow crews time to inspect campuses for any water damage from last week's winter storm.

"We actually have about 230 campuses. and at some point or another we had about 125 campuses experience either a moderate or even some small damage all the way up to something a little bit more extensive," said Robyn Harris, Director of News and Information for DISD. "Like many of the thousands of north Texans who have had to grapple with the winter storm damage along with businesses, Dallas ISD also sustained damage from last week's winter storm and so we're in the restoration mode."

The biggest problem has been water pipes that froze and then burst when the temperatures returned to above freezing. Almost all of those campuses will be open today.

Classes at the J.P. Starks Math Science and Technology Vanguard school, Lang Middle School, Bryan Adams High School and Lincoln High School will be online-only for the rest of the week.
