Coca-Cola is relaunching Mr. Pibb, the spicy cherry soda last sold under that name more than two decades ago, with a revamped recipe and more caffeine.

The company said the drink will debut in select states this month before going nationwide in 2026.   Both regular and zero-sugar versions will be available.

It was first introduced in 1972 and rebranded as Pibb Xtra in 2001, the soda returns to its original name with a formula Coca-Cola describes as having a bolder cherry flavor and spicy bite.

The comeback follows the end of Coca-Cola’s distribution deal with Dr. Pepper, clearing the way for the company to bring back the fan-favorite brand.
