The man who was elected Collin County Constable in Precinct 1 has died. Long time lawman Mike Vance died from an undisclosed illness Friday afternoon. His age was not given. Collin County Judge Chris Hill said the illness was not related to the coronavirus.
"Mike was a tremendous law enforcement officer who served for over 30 years with distinction here in our community and after retiring from a successful law enforcement career then decided he wanted to continue serving in the Constable's office. He was the real deal." said Hill.
Hill said it was too early to discuss how the Constable's position should be filled.
Hill has ordered all Collin County flags at half staff until burial. Funeral arrangements are pending.
