A Collin County man has been indicted on five counts of arson. And three of the fires he's accused of setting threatened an entire neighborhood.
According to court records, 45-year-old Jonathan Andrew Hughes of Melissa is accused of setting five arson fires in December and January. All were intentionally set grassfires, but in three separate fires the Celina Fire Department says the entire Buffalo Ridge neighborhood on the north side was put in jeopardy.
At first investigators didn't know what to make of it. It wasn't particularly dry yet and it had rained in at least one of the areas of the fires. But at the last fire they found evidence that led them to Hughes.
An investigator says Hughes is still a suspect in a number of other fires. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
