Collin County officials say they need more vaccine

Collin County officials are growing frustrated from the lack of vaccine coming to them from the state.

Over the past seven weeks, Collin County has received just over 46,000 vaccine doses. But officials say based on the county's population, the allocation should be around 72,000 vaccine doses.

County judge Chris Hill says its extremely frustrating because among all 254 Texas counties, only Denton County has a greater vaccine deficiency than Collin County.

"When the state tells us we have no more doses to give and they have no ability to help us, but we see other communities getting additional doses," Hill says. "What's being told to us doesn't seem to match what's happening across the state landscape."

The state has acknowledged that Collin and Denton County have not been provided the right amount of doses, but they won't begin to correct the problem until late February at the earliest.
