Collin County Commissioners voted on Monday to hire an outside company to run a mass COVID-19 vaccination site in the county.
That firm will be able to begin operating that site once Collin County receives more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The county received 1,000 doses of Moderna's vaccine in December and has distributed all of them.
The firm hired by the county, Curative Medical Associates, has experience in operating COVID-19 testing sites.
Company officials say they will be able to administer both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines in accordance with the guidelines set out by the CDC. Their vaccine mega-site will be able to serve up to 6,000 patients per day.
Collin County began allowing people to register on a waiting list for the vaccine last week. More than 83,000 people have signed up.
