Collin County officials begin interviewing candidates Thursday to find a new leader for the county elections office, following the retirement of longtime administrator Bruce Sherbet in November.
County commissioners have acknowledged the challenge of replacing Sherbet, who they say left big shoes to fill. He served as elections administrator for 44 years, first in Dallas County, then in Collin County.
According to the Dallas Morning News, four candidates will be interviewed. Two have worked in North Texas election offices, one is a nurse, and one is a professional from the restaurant industry.
Public comments will be heard before commissioners move to conduct the interviews in a closed session. While officials hope to identify a finalist on Thursday, they said that they are prepared to hold additional interviews if necessary.
