Congresswoman Julie Johnson says she could not be more proud of the campaign she built even with her loss Tuesday night.
Johnson said in a statement Wednesday that she called Collin Allred to congratulate him on his victory and wished him success.
"Last night's result was not the outcome we hoped for, but I could not be more proud of the campaign we built together," Johnson said in a statement.
She also thanked her supporters and thousands of North Texans who placed trust in her.
"To my supporters, and to the thousands of North Texans who placed their trust in me over the past 8 years in elected office, thank you," she said. "I am deeply grateful for your support, your belief, and your partnership."
She added that all of this happened because Republicans were successful in rigging and redistricting the state.
Johnson says her focus now is on the General Election.
"Now, our focus must turn to November and the urgent work of flipping Texas," she said.
