Convicted killer now faces another murder case in Carrollton

CARROLLTON (1080 KRLD)- A Waxahachie man who has already served time in prison for murder is in jail again, this time accused of killing a Carrollton woman. Kevion Wills was arrested at his Waxahachie apartment for the Dec. 17, 2020 shooting death and robbery of Quashana Hobbs.

A friend of Hobbs' became concerned when Hobbs did not respond to text messages on Dec 17, according to a probable cause affidavit.  The next day, the woman went to Hobbs' Carrollton apartment and found her dead.  She had been shot once in the head, police say.  A single bullet casing was found on the floor.

The case, at first, puzzled police who had scant evidence.

"Quite frankly we feared this would go cold," said Jolene DeVito, a spokeswoman for Carrollton Police.

The key came from cell phone records.  Police used "pings" on cell phone towers in the area and text messages on Hobbs' phone to put Wills in the area at the time of the shooting.

Wills' Facebook page describes him as a rapper who uses the name Zone.

Dallas County Court records show Wills was convicted of a 1996 murder and sentenced to 45-years in prison.  The records do not give details of the case.

Wills and his wife wrote letters to two judges begging for a recommendation for early release to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.  State records show Wills was granted parole in April, 2019.

He is presently in the Carrollton city jail on $1-million bond.
