Cook Children's Medical Center hosting donation drive for crutches

If you have some old crutches lying around your house, Cook Children's Medical Center needs them.

Cook Children's Medical Center is hosting a two-week donation drive for new or gently used aluminum crutches. Cook Children's is among the many healthcare organizations which are currently unable to receive crutches.

"All of this kind of comes back to the shortage of aluminum in the industry right now and other supply chain issues," Brady Gendke, the vice president of operations at Cook Children's Home Health said. He also says the hospital currently has a two-month supply of crutches on hand.

Gendke says while they could use any and all sizes, the sizes they need the most are youth and adult regular.
