COPPELL (1080 KRLD)- Refusing to back down, Coppell parents who are working to save a popular elementary school from closing will be at tonight's school board meeting and plan to tell the board closing Pinkerton is NOT an option.
Many consider Pinkerton Elementary school in Coppell a crown jewel of the district. It's one of Coppell's top-performing schools but is in danger of closing or being re-purposed as part of a new bond package.
While district leaders continue to insist no decisions have been made, many Pinkerston parents aren't convinced. They are concerned the school, which is more than 80 years old could close and many say they will leave the school district if that happens.
The bond package will be put to the voters in May. Parents working to save Pinkerton are insisting on other bond options that would expand pre-K throughout the district, but keep Pinkerston open.
