GARLAND (1080 KRLD)- Some copper thieves tried to evade cops in Garland in a U-Haul Friday.
A caller told police people were stealing copper near Belt Line and Wagon Wheel roads....and that the U-Haul truck was blocking a lane of traffic. When officers got there, they tried to stop them, but a female driver sped off. The chase didn't last long...police arrested three people.
All three are facing charges for theft, evading arrest, and drug possession. One guy had a gun on him when he was arrested.
Police said they recovered copper cables from the U-Haul truck. That had been cut with a saw from a utility pole.
