Senator John Cornyn is praising President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech Tuesday night while blasting the few democrats who boycotting the speech.

Cornyn spoke Wednesday on the Senate floor calling the State of the Union one of the country's finest traditions.

"It was an exciting night," Cornyn said. “To hear about the impressive year that we have had under President Trump."

Cornyn invited the President of the National Border Patrol Council as his guest at the State of the Union.

Cornyn called out a decision from many democrats who decided not to attend.

"Many of our democratic colleagues disgracefully chose to boycott the president's address," Cornyn said. "Their collective temper tantrum couldn't stop the rest of us from enjoying the president's speech."

Cornyn said he very much appreciated the number of guests who were featured in the speech and highlighted the USA Gold Medal-winning Men's Hockey Team.
