Senator John Cornyn has passed legislation that would end special treatment for members of Congress at airports.
Cornyn said with TSA agents working while not getting a paycheck, members of Congress should not be allowed to skip the line.
"As many Americans probably don't know, airports around the country allow Members of Congress to bypass the usual TSA security screening process at airports," Senator Cornyn said on the Senate floor.
"This should end today."
Cornyn says there are about 120,000 DHS employees working without a paycheck given the lapse in funding.
There have been bipartisan discussions this week to try and reach a deal to end the DHS shutdown.
Democrats have been demanding significant reforms to immigration enforcement under the Department of Homeland Security.
